The following is a primer on Recipient Groups (RGs) within Gnosis Communications.

Communication items consist of 2 parts:

  1. The query or target group of who you want to send the item to – this is called the Recipient Group (RG).
  2. The item design or content to send – letter text, email design, mail file, etc.

A recipient group

  • Is a saved query that can be used on any communication item (emails, letters, mailing lists, text messages).
  • Is built in the same manner as reports, using the various schemas and field options within, providing the ability to target members, volunteers, donors, registrants, attendees, and other groups of people using any of the reportable data in their record.
  • Can be used over and over again for different communications pieces.
  • Is saved in the Recipient Group library found on the Communications Center home screen, and is organized by category. (New RG categories can be created by Admin users within Reference Data Mgmt.)

  • Can be accessed to edit or review via the recipient group library shown above, or directly within a Comms item using the Change button.

  • Like reporting, can utilize criteria prompts in order to make the RG more versatile. Examples include:
    • Prompt for All Cancer or Primary Cancer Type for focused communications
    • Prompt for Volunteer availability and or interests for specific needs
    • Prompt for Event ID or Instance ID to target registrants or attendees
